My Favorite non-Christmas Disney Cartoon
All In A Nutshell with Donald Duck and Chip N Dale:
This cartoon begs the question: “Why would you make a nut butter with unshelled walnuts and acorns?”

Clearly, in reaching this decision, I have decided to lump Art of Skiing in with the Christmas specials. This is likely because, on the taped recording from my childhood, Art of Skiing preceded Mickey’s Christmas Carol, which of course is the all-time favorite and a must-see each Christmas.
As a side note, the Sugar Bowl Lodge, depicted in the opening scene, is a real place (maybe I’ve already blogged about this before but, at this point, I don’t care enough about duplicate posts to go back and check):

The actual site, unceremoniously, has the same name: “Sugar Bowl Ski Resort”. From Ralph W. Daniel at disneyshorts.org:
There's a good reason for the quick close-up of the Sugar Bowl Lodge entrance to show where Goofy is staying. Walt Disney was one of the first investors in the Sugar Bowl Ski Resort in California's High Sierras. He was persuaded to invest by Hannes Schroll, an award-winning Austrian skier, who Disney got to do the authentic yodeling heard in the short. The Sugar Bowl resort is still operating.

The location of this lodge, in Google Maps, is marked, below, with the latitude/longitude marker. Click on the image to go to the map (new window).
Lastly, although the mailing address on the official website lists the location of the Sugar Bowl Ski Resort as Norden, CA, I can’t help but find it a little macabre that the Donner party is memorialized no less than 5 times in the above screen capture (Donner, Donner Ski Ranch, Donner Summit Rd., Donner Pass Rd., and Old Donner Summit Rd.). Maybe it’s just me.
And with all the links and Google image searches, I think I just crashed Firefox again. But enjoy nonetheless!
